Kraken is the third of the Four Fiends you will face in Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster. As the Fiend of Water, this massive sea monster guards the Water Crystal in the deepest chamber of the Sunken Shrine, relying on overwhelming physical attacks to crush opponents.

With 1,800 HP and a strong 50 Attack, Kraken is a formidable physical opponent. However, his aquatic nature leaves him with a critical weakness to Thunder magic.

Battle Strategy

This battle is a balance of offense and defense. Your Black Wizard should cast Haste on your fighters, then spam their strongest Thunder spell (Thundaga). Your White Wizard must cast Protera and Invisira to reduce incoming physical damage. Have your Knight and Master use Giant’s Gloves (Saber) to boost their attack before joining the assault.

Defense is key to victory. Kraken’s physical attacks are relentless. Keeping Protera and Invisira active is essential. With defensive buffs up, the combination of Thunder magic and hasted physical attacks will wear down its HP steadily. Heal any party member that drops below half health.

After the Battle


Upon defeating Kraken, the light of the Water Crystal is restored. With three of the four fiends vanquished, the party can leave the Sunken Shrine and prepare for the final fiend in the Flying Fortress.
