Warmech has no weaknesses and resists all elements except Lightning. Its 128 Attack is immense, and its party-wide Nuke ability can be instantly fatal. This is purely a battle of attrition and buffs.

Battle Strategy

Your first turn is critical. Cast NulAll, Protera, and Invisira to survive the initial onslaught. Your Black Wizard’s only job is to cast Haste on your Knight and Master. Your fighters must use Giant’s Gloves (Saber) or Temper to boost their damage. The White Wizard must be dedicated to healing every single turn, using Curaja and Full-Life as needed.

Do not let up on healing. Warmech’s damage output is relentless. Only attack with fully buffed physical characters. While Lightning magic works, the damage from a hasted, sabered Knight or Master is far superior. This is the hardest fight in the game; be prepared to use your best items and spells.

After the Battle

Defeating Warmech is its own reward, offering a massive amount of experience and gil, along with the satisfaction of conquering Final Fantasy’s first superboss. There is no key item, but the victory proves your party’s ultimate strength.
