Matoya's Cave Chests
Matoya’s Cave is located north of the bridge near Cornelia in Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster. This cave is home to Matoya, the blind witch who will later help you cure the Elven Prince. While visiting Matoya’s Cave is optional during your first trip north, it contains 3 treasure chests with useful early-game items.
All three chests are accessible immediately and do not require any keys. They are located on the left side of Matoya’s main chamber.

When to Visit
Optional Early Visit: You can visit Matoya’s Cave immediately after crossing the bridge north of Cornelia. However, be cautious as the enemies in this area, particularly Ogres, can be challenging at low levels.
Story Visit: You’ll need to return to Matoya’s Cave later in the story when you bring her the Crystal Eye from Astos. She’ll give you the Jolt Tonic to cure the Elven Prince.
Recommendation: If you choose to visit early for the chests, consider returning to Cornelia to rest at the inn afterward, as the journey can be dangerous for a low-level party.
